Brahmagiri Range

Brahmagiri is a mountain range in the Western Ghats of southern India. River Cauvery (Kaveri thayi/mother), the lifeline of southern India, originates in the Brahmagiri Range. The Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary, named after this mountain range spreads across 181 km2 area, and comprises some of the most bio-diverse evergreen/semi-green forests and shola grasslands.

Bramhagiri Eco Foundation (BEF)

Bramhagiri Eco Foundation is a not-for-profit Section 8 organisation was founded in 2022 with initial operations in the regions around Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary in Coorg district in Karnataka.

Vision

The foundation was named after the Brahmagiri mountain range and wildlife sanctuary, and has the core objective of protecting the long term ecological well being of the Bramhagiri Wildlife Sanctuary initially, and later other critical habitats in the region and beyond.

CHEER

The state-of-the-art Community Hub for Education, Empowerment and Research (CHEER) of BEF, adjoining Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary, will be the nerve centre for activities centred around re-wilding/buffer creation, wildlife diversity research, conservation education and engagement with indigenous forest dwelling communities.
